William & Alexandra are getting married at The Palm House at Brooklyn Botanic Garden next summer, one of my favorite venues in the city! I was delighted to book them and excited to shoot this engagement session– we had scheduled it carefully for a weekend they were in town (they live in California) to be guests at someone else’s wedding– but friday evening rolled around and it was such terrible weather we would have had to do the whole session inside at Grand Central instead of the Brooklyn neighborhood they had first lived together in, where we had planned to meet. I called Alexandra and we figured out we could shoot in the morning and cross our fingers the rain would be over– sure enough it was a beautiful morning, perfect for the shoot they had envisioned. We met at the playground down the street from their old apartment building and walked from there down some cute streets to Grand Army Plaza and the Green Market there at the corner of Prospect Park. I was tickled that they dressed in bright colors and had these cute hats to wear when we wanted them. Alexandra brought her production skills to bear and I was tickled that they had not only picked out spots that were meaningful to them but also came prepared with a change of clothes and a couple of adorable hats for added flair. These two have been together since college and the deep connection and the history they share is totally evident– I can’t wait to shoot the wedding! Congratulations, Alexandra & William!
