When I met with Alex and her mom just over a year ago I could tell from her vision of the wedding that this was going to be a fantastic event. Of course any wedding at the Palm House is bound to be beautiful, but she had a vision and I could tell she was going to execute it expertly! Though she lives in California currently I was able to schedule an engagement session with them in their old neighborhood in Brooklyn during one of their wedding planning visits, and we had a blast– I couldn’t wait for the wedding. When I got their pre-wedding questionnaire back I was thrilled to see that Rebecca Shepherd was doing the floral design– she’s incredible and I have been eager to capture more of her beautiful work. This was a match made in heaven, and I’ve never seen anything quite like the tablescapes she put together. I got to shoot their rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding and as soon as I saw Alex’s amazing blue-sparkly heels I knew the next day would be as fun as I had anticipated. This girl’s got style “for miles and miles” as Stephen Malkmus would say! Instead of trying to describe all the fun I’ll let the pics speak for themselves, but here are some highlights: Lace layered gown! Groomsmen with hats! Outdoor ceremony at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden!, Signature cocktails (something with Bulleit you say? Looked incredible, whatever it was!) and totally brilliant DJ’ing all evening long– witness the cathartic wildness on the dance floor during “Holland, 1945” by Neutral Milk Hotel! This was a night to remember for all in attendance!
