Becky & Avi’s Wedding at 26 Bridge St

Becky & Avi had planned their wedding to be at Angel Orensanz in Manhattan, a venue I’ve longed to shoot at for some time– then when they told me that they Dexter Lake Club Band (only my favorite wedding band!) AND Rebecca Shepherd Floral Design (another favorite!) I knew I just had to shoot their wedding as it was practically a dream come true. Despite having to switch venues after Angel got stuck in a lengthy renovation process, this couple and their fabulous event coordinator pulled off an incredible wedding at the wonderful DUMBO event space at 26 Bridge St. We shot their getting ready at the slick downtown hotel Sixty LES and then headed across the river to Brooklyn for portraits down by the water with the bridge views. A major thank you to Becky and Avi and their wedding party for bearing with me out there in the chilly weather– it was totally worth it! On the walk back to their limo my assistant photographer noticed a “light show” that he said was happening just that weekend under the manhattan bridge so I swept the couple up there to see what cool shots we might be able to get– sure enough I was able to quickly do an interesting silhouette against the colorful lighting and sculpture pieces they had set up there. Once we got to the venue we took care of the family group shots and captured a sweet Ketubah signing before the ceremony and reception. Probably the highlight of the evening was Avi’s surprise serenade of sorts– after cutting the cake he was introduced and sat down to play an Elliott Smith song but then with help from the band transitioned into an impressive hip hop number that had everyone rushing to the dance floor. The delight on Becky’s face was priceless and I was so thrilled to capture this fantastic performance. All in all this wedding just ruled. Congratulations to this amazing couple!
