Mary Jane & Rob’s Engagement Portraits in Brooklyn Heights

Mary Jane & Rob are getting married next March at The Park Savoy.  Since it may be cold at the time of their wedding they were particularly keen on doing the engagement portraits in nice weather, so it was wonderful to find ourselves shooting in their neighborhood, Brooklyn Heights, during a perfectly wonderful spring evening in May.  They wanted to capture the feeling of the pretty streets where they live and we made our way down to the waterside and ultimately to Brooklyn Bridge Park, which was simply lovely as the sun set and the lights came on in the city.  Check out my favorites from their shoot!  Congratulations Mary Jane & Rob, I can’t wait for the wedding!

Karin & Michael’s Engagement Portraits: Washington Square Park

Karin & Michael are getting married this coming November at Brooklyn’s own Liberty Warehouse, which has been on my wish list for some time now, so I’m super-excited to get a chance to shoot a wedding down there!  For their engagement session they selected Washington Square Park as a starting point and after exploring that area we walked up through Union Square to finish at their favorite local bar, Pete’s.  We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spring day for this shoot– it was a great day for it and I love what we captured!  Congratulations to Karin & Michael and check back in November to see highlights from their wedding!

Jes & John’s Engagement Portraits at Liberty State Park in Jersey City

Jes & John are getting married at The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls in May of 2016. They had their engagement portraits with me last week at Liberty State Park in Jersey City– a little out of my normal area but wow, what a cool spot! There were old trains and a historic station, manhattan-across-the-river views, a promenade to walk along, a marina full of boats, and plenty of flowers and other interesting background spots I found along the way. We even found some cherry blossoms! Congrats to this wonderful couple– I can’t wait to shoot the wedding!

Amber & Eric’s Wedding at The Metropolitan Club

Eric & Amber planned a stunning wedding at The Metropolitan Club, a historic venue just off the Southeast corner of Central Park.  I was particularly excited about this wedding not only because the venue itself is gorgeous and rich with atmosphere, but because Eric is a theatre director and clearly was bringing his sensibilities to the wedding planning process– everything from the everything from the groomsmen’s tuxedos (and Morning suits for the ceremony!) to the invitation suite were meticulously designed with an eye for theatrical detail.  I started the day with Amber and her bridesmaids getting ready upstairs in the Club and then we took a round of pictures with the wedding party down in the Billiards room while the couple shared a private moment for their first look.  After some photos in the library and rooftop balcony we took a walk across the street to Central Park and then loaded into cars to head to St. Jean Baptiste on the Upper East Side.  What a gorgeous church this was–the ceremony was particularly moving as it was performed by Eric’s own father, who is a Deacon!  Upon return to the Metropolitan Club guests were treated to a cocktail hour that concluded with a surprise dance performance before heading upstairs to the ballroom for dinner & dancing.  Eric & Amber delighted onlookers with their incredible first dance choreography, and later on we were treated to a surprise performance by another dance troupe!  The next morning their nuptials were announced in The New York Times Vows section, too.  I could not be more thrilled for this wonderful couple– congratulations, Eric & Amber!

New custom flash drives: bamboo!

As fewer people have disc drives I have found it useful to give clients their purchased image files on USB sticks… I had been wondering what my logo would look like on the new bamboo drives from USB Memory Direct-– today my samples arrived and they look pretty cool!  I love that bamboo is sustainable.  The fact that the caps are magnetically held to the body of the drive is pretty great too.usb memory direct flash drives-04
