Zackary at 6

I’ve been shooting Zackary’s portraits since he was a baby and I was excited to hear from his mom this fall and we planned a fun shoot to capture him at home with his toys and at the park across the street from their house. My favorite part was shooting him climb a tree he’s familiar with. We finished the shoot at their local farmer’s market, a tiny veggie tent just down the road from them. What a beautiful afternoon! Happy 6th birthday to Zackary!

Family Portraits Central Park Conservatory Gardens

Caitlin had been one of my home birth project subjects a while back and I was thrilled when she got in touch about a possible family portrait shoot in the Conservatory Gardens at Central Park, where she and her husband had gotten married.  She secured a permit for the shoot and after doing some pretty shots in those beautiful gardens we hit the playground for some shots of the kids in action.  I loved getting to see this family gro

Jenn & Dan’s Engagement Portraits: Grand Central to Bryant Park

Jenn & Dan are getting married at Glen Island Harbour Club later this fall and for their engagement session we settled on meeting in  Manhattan, though a rainy day dictated that we meet in Grand Central to start our session. After shooting a handful of indoor shots we poked our heads outside and sure enough it had stopped raining so we made our way down the street and captured some sweet shots of the couple on the street, at the library, and in and around Bryant Park and it’s subway station. My favorite moment had to be when I had the couple pose with some jugglers in the park– they were so enthusiastic about contributing their skills to the portrait, it was sweet and fun to capture.

Caitlin & Kevin’s Wedding at Clarks Landing Yacht Club

Caitlin & Kevin were married on the Jersey coast at a beautiful Catholic Church, St. Catharine’s in Spring Lake.  The whole drive down that morning it was raining cats and dogs and I was worried about not being able to do many outdoor pictures for them at their pretty seaside venue later on.  The rain continued as we shot them getting ready and I got a great shot of Caitlin’s excitement as she was escorted from the limo upstairs to the Church door– not even a wet windy day was gonna dampen her spirits, she was so excited to be marrying Kevin!  After a beautiful wedding we skipped the park we thought we might do portraits at and headed straight to Clark’s Landing and finally the weather cooperated– just in time for us to take pictures of the couple and their family and wedding party out on the piers with some of the scenery.  Guests arrived for cocktails and enjoyed a lively reception complete with a photobooth and a live band.  I was excited to get a beautiful shot of them out by the water during sunset and I couldn’t resist trying out the newest addition to my lighting trick toolbag when it came time for an end-of-the-night portrait… I was honored to capture this fantastic celebration– Congratulations to Caitlin & Kevin!

Gina & Jamie’s Wedding at The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls

Gina & Jamie planned a beautiful September wedding at one of my favorite venues in the Hudson Valley, The Roundhouse  at Beacon Falls.  Gina had described her approach to the decor as ‘vintage with a touch of glam’ and sure enough everything was just that– from the charming tuxes and Gina’s fabulous shoes and earrings to match the deep green of her bridesmaids’ gowns, to the old suitcases and vintage family photos framed for guests to look at on welcome tables and the gold sequinned sweet-heart table cloth, and the colors couldn’t have bee more fitting for a rustic-industrial chic venue like The Roundhouse, which is a brilliantly converted factory building overlooking a waterfall… We hit the railroad tracks around the block for their portraits and I was thrilled with what we were able to get– there is nothing like these overgrown tracks as far as a setting for romantic portraits, I can’t get over this setting!  Highlights of the ceremony included a sweet moment when Jamie had just put the ring on Gina’s finger and kissed her hand (gulp, so romantic!) spontaneously– and of course I loved the brilliant time capsule they prepared–a bottle of bubbly and some love letters to read on a future anniversary!   The evening proceeded with great dancing and I was excited to see an actual ‘cheese cake’ (cheese wheels stacked and decorated with figs, etc!) for the groom’s cake.  I concluded the night with a few portraits of the couple outside by the waterfall, which was the perfect ending to a beautiful day.  Congratulations to Gina & Jamie!
