When Becky initially contacted me I was so excited because she and Avi were planning to be married at a venue downtown that I’ve *longed* to shoot in for years now, but never had the chance. Angel Orensanz is an event space housed in the oldest surviving synogague structure in NYC. It’s sanctuary was designed to resemble the Sistine Chapel, and the rest of the interior is influenced by the Cathedral of Notre Dame. This uniquely beautiful space is now a famous arts center and nonprofit– it embodies so many of the things I love about New York City itself, and it’s potential as a wedding venue is unmatched in my opinion. Amazingly this couple was referred to me by my favorite wedding band of all time, The Dexter Lake Club Band— who will be playing for them! So when I heard that Becky and Avi would be working with a floral designer whose work I absolutely adore, Rebecca Shepherd, I felt like this wedding was a dream come true and it was just meant for me– you can imagine my delight when they chose me to be their photographer– it’s basically my ideal wedding! Of course as luck would have it then Angel Orensanz had some sort of building failure that has forced them to shut down temporarily and fix a part of their structure before reopening… luckily they’re expected to be back in business a few months before Becky & Avi’s wedding and this amazing couple has rolled with the punches and is making backup plans as possible just in case. Now that I’ve had a chance to shoot their engagement portraits around their neighborhood in Brooklyn I couldn’t be more confident that stars have aligned here– this couple is so fun and cool and their wedding is most definitely gonna rule so check back in November (fingers crossed) to see those pictures too!
Stefanie & Andy are getting married at The Kittle House in Chappaqua, NY in Summer 2015. They live in Stamford, CT and had no need to capture themselves with a neighborhood of New York, so Central Park provided a lovely backdrop for their engagement session. I enjoyed getting to show them some of my favorite spots on a beautiful early evening in June– we had perfect weather and lovely light. Check out my favorites from their shoot!

they are so beautiful!
Emily & Adam were married at the lovely Hempstead House at Sands Point Preserve , on Long Island on a gorgeous day in May. I couldn’t have been more pleased to be their wedding photographer– the day was magical! From the beautiful rooms in this historic mansion (the Guggenheim’s Estate) to the sandy beach just a short walk away, this venue had everything a photographer could want! I started the day scouting the grounds and finding the beach, then I drove over to Emily’s parents home to capture her getting her hair and makeup done before returning to Hempstead House for her to put her dress on and begin with a “first look” with her groom. We took them around for portraits outside in front of the mansion and with some nice greenery and to my delight they were even game for walking down the hill and getting some shots on the beach! After capturing their family groupings we went back indoors for their document signing with close family and their Rabbi present. Guests arrived to find a lovely outdoor ceremony and refreshing cold drinks awaiting them. After the ceremony a cocktail hour was held in the adjacent garden area. The following reception indoors was a thrill to capture– highlights for me included the couple practicing their first dance alone upstairs before entering the reception, a lively hora, toasts from parents and siblings, and in the stead of a traditional wedding cake a donut and pie dessert bar, followed by s’mores and a firepit outside! Congratulations to Emily & Adam!

Hilary & Andrew are getting married this fall at Le Parker Meridian Hotel, just south of Central Park. Since they live in Boston they wanted to bring me up there for their engagement portraits, and boy did we get a great day for it! They picked me up from the train station and we went to a few choice spots– Beacon Hill, a nice historic district with cobblestone streets and beautiful old architecture, and Boston Public Garden, which was lovely and full of folks out to enjoy Memorial Day Weekend in the sunshine. To get a little variety (and because I didn’t want to miss out on the coastal element) we wrapped the session up near the Institute for Contemporary Art down by the water, where I could pose them near a boat or two! I was so glad I got to do this shoot on their home turf, I know the photos will be all the more meaningful to them because of it. Check out my favorites from the shoot…
Amy & Brett are getting married this summer at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers— for their engagement portraits we wanted to capture them first with their adorable dog in the neighborhood around their building, and then for a round of shots in Central Park. We couldn’t have had better weather when the day of their shoot rolled around– what a delightful walk we had! I loved getting them in Columbus Circle at the end, too– we got a great variety of shots, check them out!
