Ben & Tracey had one of the most unique weddings I’ve shot a few years ago up at Alder Manor in Yonkers. These two are so creative and fun– I knew they’d be amazing parents and was so thrilled to hear that they were indeed expecting! Some friends of theirs who knew me from the wedding went in on a gift certificate that would be good for a baby/family shoot and Ben & Tracey opted to wait til little July was smiling and sitting up rather than shooting her in the newborn stage– timing with the fall leaves was perfect and this was a great time for portraits! As you can see baby July had a nice range of posing options (she can sit up, hold her head up from ‘tummy time’ position, lay on her back, and of course be held by parents too!) We were able to incorporate not only the beautiful Chuppah that Tracey had knitted for their wedding but also a precious quilt she had made at the tender age of 12! At the end of the session we risked July getting a little cold for a minute so we could capture her in a cute outfit that says July (a sweet gift) and of coruse I was thrilled when she started putting her sweet little feet in her mouth– check it out! In any session where I’m focusing on a baby I also want to make those family portraits, as well as portraits of each parent with the baby. My hope is one day little July will look at these images and be able to feel just how much her parents loved her from the start!
Alli & Parker are getting married this August at The Palm House at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. I was excited when they chose DUMBO in Brooklyn for their engagement portraits because the last time I was there I saw a bunch of new murals around the neighborhood though I didn’t shoot more than a few of them. This time I dove a little deeper engaging these colorful new walls as we walked down to the waterfront. I was especially thrilled that Alli’s dress had splashes of color that totally worked with a handful of these murals! We made our way to some scenes with the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge and then I finished up with them next to this beautiful Carousel down near Brooklyn Bridge Park. What a fun shoot– these two have serious chemistry, eh? Check out my favorites!
I’ve shot a bunch of weddings at Housing Works Bookstore in Soho-– it’s a delightful venue and I always get a kick out of shooting there and I knew this wedding would be unique when Jen told me it would be ***Halloween themed*** AND that guests would be invited to attend in costume! Hmmm, yes it MIGHT be fun to photograph that wedding, SIGN ME UP!!! Though the bride and groom wore traditional wedding-wear the brilliant & entertaining Reverend D was dressed up as the Evil Queen from Snow White and MANY of the guests were indeed dressed up! DIY decor included simple black and orange tablescapes featuring pumpkins, gourds, and googly-eyed candles with some funny ‘costume’ props scattered about, a jacko-lantern with the couple’s initials at the entrance, and a card catalog drawer with the guests’ escort cards leading them to their tables, which were represented with a selection of the couple’s favorite and/or halloween-appropriate books… Even the band was dressed up in costume and Jen’s step-dad made a cameo appearance playing Saxophone for some numbers. Highlights included their dog Gandalf playing ring-bearer, a moving serenade-toast from Jen’s mother, and some super-cute family units that had put together matching costume sets. I got a kick out of shooting their rings on the cover of a book on halloween pumpkin styling too! At the end of the night I took Jen & Peter out in front of the bookstore and we made an experimental night portrait with a string of lights I recently purchased for this very idea… check out my faves!

Emily & Adam are getting married at Hempstead House at Sands Point Preserve at the end of May next year and I am so excited to shoot their wedding at this beautiful and unique mansion by the shore! For their engagement portraits we planned a shoot that would capture them in the neighborhood they live in, Fort Greene in Brooklyn, whenever couples are into shooting around their apartments I suggest this– it will be such a nice way to remember this time in their lives together and where they lived, what NYC was like for them when they were young, etc. I met them at their place and we started with a few cute shots of them in their lovely apartment and on the balcony with their barbeque grill and the view of the rooftops beyond. We walked around the blocks to either side of theirs and hit Fort Greene Park to get some greenery in the photos as well. Check out my favorites from the shoot!
Meghan & Terence are getting married this spring at Blessed Sacrament on the Upper West Side and having their reception at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. For their engagement shoot we chose the Flatiron area near their place and met in Madison Square Park to start with some shots with their adorable young beagle. I was so excited they booked me to shoot for them, and am even more excited having had such a fun engagement session– we had a great walk-around and even hit the rooftop terrace at their apartment building a few blocks away, where they enjoy an awesome view of the Empire State Building and enjoy sharing a bottle of wine! To wrap up our fun shoot we ducked into the amazing antique store, Olde Good Things, across the street from them and working some cool chandeliers and whatnot. Check out my favorites from the shoot!
