Sara & Jeff are getting married in November at The Palm House, and they booked me just recently so we were glad to find a time to shoot their engagement session before it gets too cold! As it was we had a lovely afternoon down in Brooklyn Bridge Park along the waterfront there. After shooting throughout the park we walked up the street to incorporate some of the colorful new murals as backgrounds in the shots and man, some of these new walls in Dumbo are just really fun to work with! I loved the “Yes” mural underneath the overpass here– it’s black and white so looks fantastic in a nice contrasty B+W photo!
Jessie & Steve are getting married at The Garrison next June and since they live in Greenpoint we planned to do a nice Brooklyn-based session that would capture the spirit of their area (and get them some pictures that would contrast nicely with the beautiful greenery up at their venue). I met them for their session on a day that turned out to be destined for rain– 5 minutes into our shoot it was clear that we would need to reschedule– luckily we found a convenient time in the not-too-distant future and met at the same place and time a few weeks later. In the meantime it occurred to me that we could take the ferry from right near our Greenpoint shoot and get off one stop away in Williamsburg and we could snag some cool shots down there as well since on Saturdays they have the “Smorgasburg” food fair set up in the park there. Check out some of my favorite shots from our shoot!

Lara & Nicole’s special day had everything I love shooting and look forward to about weddings– the emotions, the beauty, the personal style choices, and the wild dancing! They planned a sophisticated, fun & stylish vintage-kissed wedding at Brooklyn’s popular Green Building, complete with the perfect DJ and fantastic food from the caterers at Naturally Delicious. We even got an end-of-night visit from the guys of The Milk Truck, who were parked out front to provide fresh gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and milkshakes to guests! I was tickled to finally get a chance to shoot in this unique and fantastic venue and I hope to be back again! Highlights included a fluffy puppydog ringbearer, two sweetly emotional father-daughter dances, a private photobooth back-room, and some crazy masks and wigs being finding their way onto the dance floor… Lara & Nicole wanted to wait and not see each other in their gowns until the ceremony so we took them outside for some ‘just married’ couple portraits during the cocktail hour and I was pleased to find a plethora of neat spots to shoot right along the block The Green Building sits on! Guests were enjoying cocktails in the outdoor patio space behind the building while the room was prepped for the reception and soon enough we were on to the first dance and the rest, as they say, is history. What an amazing night everyone had celebrating the love and commitment of these two amazing women– congratulations to the happy couple!

Marisa & Rob are getting married in late March at the Palm House and just booked me in time to get their engagement portraits shot in time to make a Save The Date card with one or two… Marisa had a vision for a shot with their two sweet bulldogs, so we met up at their place and I captured some shots of the dogs indoors while they finished getting ready– outside we were able to make some shots with the dogs more or less like what she had in mind– these dogs are definitely living life on their terms, so it was a challange, but a fun one indeed since they were so gentle and cute in general! Marisa & Rob finished walking the dogs and we took them home. After a few impromptu shots in the apartment (I coudn’t resist making a pretty headshot of Marisa by the window– she’s such a stunner!) we went down to their buiding’s lounge area and got some fun shots by the pool table and playing chess… since Rob was due to host a football watching party in only a few short hours we hopped in a cab up to Central Park for a few spots up there Marisa had in mind– we quickly found the pretty bridge she loves and after some more park-y shots we headed back to Columbus Circle. All in all a great time and I was amazed at the variety of imagery we shot in single e’session! I can’t wait to shoot this wedding– it will be a fun one to kick off my 2014 season with.
When I first met Kelly I was struck by her unique beauty– she’s got the most amazing hair– I couldn’t wait to see what she did with it for the wedding! Scott is one lucky fellow– this bride looked stunning and she did a fantastic job planning their wedding at the uniquely awesome venue, Bonnet Island Estate. To my delight the whole day was full of beautiful and coordinated summery, beach-themed details and pale pink hues. We started in the lovely bridal suite on the 3rd floor overlooking the amazing view and did a first look and the family group portraits before they signed their Ketubah and had their ceremony in the “Boathouse” (such a sweet little chapel-like building!). Guests were treated to a pre-sunset cocktail hour on a covered porch while we did a round of “just married” portraits utilizing the lovely grounds and I was able to get inside the reception with time to capture all the prettiness Kelly had planned! Highlights of the night included a lively Hora, a sweet and emotional serenade from the father of the groom, and an incredible choreographed father-daughter dance! I loved every minute of this gorgeous wedding and hope to get down to Bonnet Island Estate again! Congrats to the happy couple and may your love last forever!
