Marlene & Richard’s Wedding at The Atrium, Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Marlene & Richard together with their very organized daughter Sidney planned their long-awaited wedding at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s newest event venue, The Atrium.  Featuring a high ceilings, glass walls and a green roof, this structure is architecturally beautiful and unique in and of itself.  When lit up with a wedding reception within it, it is stunning.   Though the ceremony was originally planned for before-and-during-dusk, it was fairly dark out and guests were given little electric candles to hold…  I leaned into my cameras super-high ISO range to let some of the ambient light in and of course needed to use flash– even got some help from the videographer’s light to light up the events of the ceremony.  We stopped in a few spots and did more formal portraits of the couple along the walk back to the Atrium for their Cocktail hour.  The Atrium was decorated by the skilled team of Cathy and Barry Sviba of Sviba Floral Design, and the brilliant team at Charles, Sally, Charles (exclusive caterers at The Palm House and The Atrium at BBG) served up a delicious dinner as usual!  The first dance was followed by some sweet toasts from friends and family, and dancing into the night.  So many friends and family came to join in the celebration from spots as far as the Caribbean Islands, a great time was had by all… I was honored to capture this momentous occasion in the lives of the Daleys– Congratulations Marlene & Richard!

Sarah thank you for capturing this beautiful special moment so perfectly! Being able to count on your expertise and flawless work, along with our florist Cathy and Barry Sviba, the efficiency of the Palm House staff, and our videographer Amanda Wilder made organizing and planning my parent’s wedding just a little bit easier and the final product is spectacular. THANK YOU!

Family Portraits at Brooklyn Bridge Park with the Coyles

Anne got in touch with me after seeing Amy & Andrew’s sweet anniversary-slash-maternity portraits at Central Park posted on facebook. She’s pregnant with her second child and was eager to capture herself at this stage with her husband and 3 year old daughter, Sylvie. We talked through some location options and settled on Brooklyn Bridge Park, which had the pleasure of shooting at several times in the past few months so I knew just where we could go to pose them with some cool backgrounds. It was a windy day and the park was not too crowded– little Silvi seemed delighted to have her picture taken so I spent some time making cute portraits of just her as well as the family shots and some couple and mom-only portraits. After winding along the shoreline hitting the park, some bridge-views, and the carousel we finished up with a visit to the playground there in Dumbo and I shot some candids of their daughter enjoying herself before saying goodbye. I had so much fun shooting this family and I hope maybe I’ll get to capture them again after baby comes!

Kelly & Scott’s Engagement Portraits at Brooklyn Bridge Park & DUMBO waterfront.

Kelly & Scott are getting married next summer at Bonnet Island Estate, and I’m so excited to be their wedding photographer!  From Kelly’s descriptions of her plans it sounds like it will be so sweet and beautifully planned.  I tend to enjoy working with couples who are on the organized side– I, of course, feel a strong desire to organize and plan my shooting itinerary down to a T so you can imagine I clicked well with Kelly when we met for our consultation.  Scott is so busy with work that I hadn’t gotten to meet him prior to the engagement session but he was so great to work with– I love the shots we got of these two down by the Brooklyn waterfront.  Kelly had brought their two dogs with them for the shoot and these cute little fluffballs were *so* very well behaved, they just seemed to love being taken out for the day and there was no dog drama whatsoever.  Congrats to Kelly & Scott and here’s to your upcoming wedding!
