Lindsay and Ben wanted to do a post-wedding photoshoot with me in Central Park. It had rained on their wedding and even though we did get out of the tent for a few shots when it was more “misty” than raining, they wanted some really nice outdoor portraits in their wedding clothes (and who can blame them?!)– which were so elegant and well-chosen. Ben’s suit was created specially for him by an amazing tailor in D.C. After the wedding he sent it for some alterations and then it was lost in transit back to him… thus our post-wedding shoot was postponed and postponed again… when the new suit arrived Lindsay had her dress cleaned and was ready to go! I bought some blue balloons (their wedding color) to match Ben’s tie and we walked around the middle of Central Park on a beautiful fall day.
Here are the results–what a beautiful couple!
Zachary’s mom was a maternity portrait subject back when she was pregnant, and I’ve had the pleasure of shooting him at various adorable stages, but I must say, I think he’s never been cuter than he is now! The neatest part of our shoot was when we went outside for what would have been a sort of ho-hum natural light component– I’m not next to a park so I would have just blurred out the more industrial looking backgrounds and focused on his cuteness– but he got super excited to TOUCH the parked TAXIS! My studio happens to be in Long Island City, where a ton of taxis are parked when not in use) and then we lucked out behind my building when we came across a big CRANE that was parked for the weekend… fun for the whole family 🙂
Oooo! Little boy with cars and constructions vehicles – that’s so cute. What a great idea!
Sarah, I am so thrilled with these awesome pictures! This is a great age/moment in our little guy’s life and you really captured the essence of his personality. So glad we did this. Thank you!!
[…] building this collection as we document his childhood– he’s grown SO MUCH since I last saw him, he’s just the cutest little man now… of course the cute little sweater/collared shirt […]
Chris and Christina had a big wedding with tons of fun-loving family and friends– their whole event was flooding with love! From the special serenade for the couple to a sing-along to celebrate a beloved grandfather’s birthday it was a very musical event. I brought the photobooth setup and we got some really fun shots of people enjoying themselves at the reception. Here is a sneak peek!

There were some other highlights I must mention– Christina’s dance with her father was particularly striking– he hugged her really tightly and they just hugged and swayed like that for basically the whole song. Looking around the crowd I saw many eyes tearing up, it was moving, and I’ve never seen a parent dance like that before, there was something very special about it.
Even more emotional, perhaps, was the toast given by the Maid of Honor! You could tell she was having trouble holding it together, she was weeping through her speech, it was really really sweet.
Some people would call me a sap (notably my assistant!) but god, I LOVE these moments– I don’t think a wedding goes by where I don’t tear up several times just because of people’s joy and the tenderness they express towards one another at weddings… it always gets me, and I hope I never stop feeling it!
Then later there was this lovely serenade to the couple…
And what really struck me as just totally sweet was the way they took time during the reception to sing a birthday song to “Poppy” (who was turning 94 I believe!) — one of his favorites by Dean Martin… and as you can imagine, he was simply tickled by all the attention!
This reception was all about fun– the guests danced their asses off pretty much all night, and by the looks of it everyone was having the time of their lives.
Great idea for the photobooth, love the ring flash work. 🙂
Happy, boisterous families make for the best weddings: the worst are the serious, neurotic families…
What a celebration!!!!!
