Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at the neatest venue: The Queens County Farm Museum! It is basically a farm that is open to the public for educational purposes, and they have not only a corn maze (yes, a maze in a cornfield, i SO want to go back there and get lost in it…) and oodles of delightfully healthy and happy chickens walking around everywhere but a very nice little event hall for things like weddings. And the catering was delicious– mostly farm fresh stuff I presume. I loved shooting this sweet couple in front of the chicken pens and sunflowers, cornstalks, etc… My husband says he regularly sees produce being sold by the Queens County Farm Museum at the Union Square Greenmarket, too. Very cool place to visit if you’re curious about farming, I will have to take him there sometime. Lillian and Michal had such a fun reception– a really fun crowd on the dance floor. Congratulations Lillian and Michal! Here are some favorite shots.
Great news! I just got word that my image placed among the top ten in the last Wedding Photojournalist Association contest… I entered several categories of course but this is the first time I’ve been named to the prestigious winners’ circle… The WPJA is wildly popular among photographers and has thousands of members worldwide. They recently started giving every member a certain number of free entries per year, at which point I thought to myself “now the competition will be tougher than ever…” but what do you know?! I finally did it! Now if I can just win one of those PDN (Photo District News) Top Knots awards! Oh how I long to be listed in those pages… one never knows why certain images win out over others. Personally I might have rated my other entry in this category (Creative Portraiture) higher than the one that the judges picked, but of course I love this one too…
Congratulations! Well-deserved.

A while back you may remember I wrote about doing a shoot for a program on National Geographic Network… well the program finally came out and was aired in late August (of course nobody told me when it would show so i had to hear from friends who had seen me on TV!)– well it was originally called “Man’s First Migration” but was aired under the title The Human Family Tree in the end… and instead of being a multi-part series they condensed it to one program… but I’m still in it! Check out the clip here, just click on the funny looking picture of a guy with his hand in front of his face against a white background… it’s the 3rd clickable image under the VIDEO tab… that was my model for the shoot– Dave Reed.
