Aviva & Jared’s Wedding at Wainright House

Aviva & Jared were married by the water on the estate of the Wainwright House in Rye, NY on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in August.  The day was full of merriment with family and friends but amidst all the celebration we witnessed such tender and beautiful moments between the couple and their sweet parents, I was thoroughly moved!  Aviva & Jared exchanged gifts and letters before seeing one another and both of them shed tears of joy as they read each other’s notes… when they finally did get to embrace at their first look their love and excitement to be together was palpable!  We gathered the wedding party and family groups for portraits and then went inside for them to sign a beautiful Ketubah created by Jared’s sister, Shera.  As guests arrived and enjoyed a cocktail hour on the lawn behind the beautiful stone mansion, Jared and his groomsmen gathered for his Tisch, and Aviva went outside for the Bedekken.  The men carried Jared outside on their shoulders in procession to her and he veiled his bride before we all headed to the ceremony, which was held under a beautiful Chuppah with special embroideries commemorating the various weddings it was used at in Aviva’s family history.  The reception was held in a big beautiful tent just behind the mansion, and you should have seen the dancing!  August heat didn’t even put a dent in the raucous enthusiasm of this crowd!  After a round of sweet toasts we were treated to a song-toast presentation by Aviva’s parents, who were a traveling comedy duo when Aviva was little.  Toward the end of the night I stole the happy couple out of the tent for an experimental night portrait with a new idea I was excited to try and we were pretty psyched with the results.  Congratulations to Aviva & Jared, it was a fantastic wedding!
